twilight

now that my PokeSpe reviews are done, what would be good?...

Twilight! (can't really measure up to PokeSpe, i know, but then again, what can?)

so, Twilight: it's recieved considerable criticism from many quarters. is it Justified?

Let's find out...

bella's a mary-sue.
edward's little better

it implies Stalking is Love. (edward breaking into bella's bedroom and following her places)
it encourages Teenage Pregnancy.
it shows physical attraction, rather respect, trust and mutual interest, as the foundation of a relationship

it lacks a sense of logic (apparently Leah's a total bitch for being angry that her fiance left her for her cousin)
Apparently, Suicide is Heroic.
true love apparently means you're entitled to be an asshole.

true love means to forgive everything misdeed your partner or spouse commits. even murder.
being hot automatically makes you a nice person, even if you act like an asshole.
it equates physical attraction as true love

yep, seems Justified...

Pokemon Adventures FRLG

the FRLG Arc.

Prominently featuring the original 3, this Arc mainly exists so the characters can provide Fanservice. yes, characters, (Plural. not just Blue this time) and demonstrate their Badassery, though, the latter has come to be a series staple.

this arc is my favorite to date. throughout the whole thing, they do what they do, give 100%, pushing themselves to their physical and psychological boundaries, fighting TR.

but the central theme of this arc, is Family. everything the characters do is so they can be reunited with their families.

whether it's Blue and her parents, Green and his grandfather, or Giovanni and his son, it all comes down to that same thing.

PaperiniK New Adventures

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Manga review, to bring you a Public Service Announcement.

 PaperiniK New Adventures.

Calling it a Disney version of PokeSpe, wouldn't be entirely incorrect.

some of you may know the protagonist: This Guy:

yeah, yeah... it's donald duck.
Give it a chance. it's very good in spite of it, or Because of it, as the case may be.

The Series features donald duck, and a brand new cast of characters, allies and enemies.

Also, Surprising, given the source material, this series features Darker Content, than most other disney publications.

the plot begins when he foils a assault by a strange pair of aliens downtown, marking his first encounter with the Evron empire, who is established to have depopulated a number of worlds prior to discovering earth, and   taken some unfortunate survivors with them, to provide nourishment for the Evrons.

seeing that his previous gadgets and weapons are largely ineffectual on his newfound enemies, he decides to find new allies and weapons, to aid him.

Enter Xadhoom.

a survivor of a previous Evronian genocide, she quickly teams up with him to get revenge.

and so the stage is set for the series to unfold.

Spanning 53 Issues, and having a far more enjoyable Twilight story, if you read PokeSpe and Loved it,

PaperiniK New Adventures should likewise provide quality reading, once you get past that it's donald freaking duck fighting aliens, of course.

we now return you to the Pokemon Special / Adventures review, already in progress.

Pokemon Adventures RS

"At a Certain Time, In a Certain Place... ...Another Story has Begun..."
the opening narration for the Ruby and Sapphire arc. quite fitting for the new part of PokeSpe.

This Arc revolves around the Titular characters. the story really begins to unfold when Ruby and Sapphire make a bet: 80 days to complete their respective goals. for Ruby, that's winning 5 contests each in 4 towns through-out Hoenn. for Sapphire, it's defeating 8 gymleaders. once again, the plot is character-driven.

another highlight is the gym battles. right from the very start, it's evident that her victories are due to brain power, rather than muscle power.

but what this arc really seems to be about, is Deconstruct the very existence of Pokemon themselves. Ruby, Sapphire and others can attest to the fact that wild Pokemon can inflict serious injuries to Trainers and Pokemon who aren't strong enough to defend themselves, which serves to give the Series some relative Realism.

Pokemon Adventures GSC

the GSC arc

Prominently featuring Gold, Silver and Crystal, this Arc revolves around Gold trying to get his bag back from Silver, Silver trying to get revenge on the masked man for kidnapping him as a small child and Crystal trying to complete the Kanto-Johto region PokeDex.

Gold's character is the main oddity. unlike the PokeDex Holders before him, He's Selfish, Reckless, Careless... these traits result in Oak initially refusing to give him a PokeDex.

Silver. another oddity. early on, he displays acrobatic abilities. where he obtained these is unknown.

Pokemon Adventures: Yellow

This Arc focuses mainly on Yellow, a young trainer from viridian city.

after Red's defeat by Bruno of the Elite 4 and subsequent disappearance, yellow sets out to find him, and return Pika to him.

after a long journey around the Kanto region, a training session with Green and a Team-up with several gymleaders, the story shifts to the Cerise island, far south of kanto, where the final battles with Lance and the Elite 4 takes place.
Blue gets another chance to show off how Crazy-Prepared she is against Lorelei. Koga gets to show how Freaking HardCore he is, and Red saves Bill's and Lt.Surge's asses from getting melted. Yellow fares less well, as it takes not only Mewtwo softening Lance's Pokemon up, as well as mass Evolutions, to turn the tide of the battle

Ultimately, It's revealed that Pikachu knew all along what Lance had planned, and, with power from Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, uses the accumulated energy to reverse the environmental damage shown through-out the Arc, rather than commit human Genocide as Lance had planned.

all in all, a Very Good Chapter.

Pokemon Adventures: RGB

First up to Bat: the RGB Arc.

The first volume is quite Fast Paced, introducing 2 of this Arc's Major players, Setting the stage for Red's Character development, The plot, and giving him several of the Pokemon he would have for the Rest of the series.

The second volume Follows Suit, with the introduction of Blue, a tricky, flirtatious girl. Red obtains an eevee, and gains another gym badge. otherwise the plot doesn't really advance much in this volume. it mainly builds up to the next volume.

The third and final volume picks up on the plot threads established in the previous 2 volumes, and weaves a very good ending to the Arc with them. everything's taken care of. Team Rocket's disbanded, And Red achieves his dream, becoming the 9th Pokemon League Champion.

Admit it. you wish the anime looked This Cool.

anyway, the images are from the manga Pokemon Special, Known as Pokemon Adventures outside of Japan. where it differs from the anime is that the characters tend to travel without human company. Notably, Misty even mocks the notion of abandoning her gym to travel with Red.

that once a character's story arc ends or they accomplish what they set out to do, the story switches to a New protagonist and game region.

it's emphasis on Characterization and Continuity along with somewhat Darker content,  has many convinced that it's designed for an older audience than the Anime. whether this is true or not is... Debatable.

As the series has 42 volumes, and nearly 70 characters, seperated across various Arcs, i'll be reviewing them by arc

Hellsing

first up is Hellsing.
Made during the late 90's by kouta hirano, the series revolves around the vampire Alucard, who is under the employ of the titular Hellsing organization, Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, who leads the afore-mentioned agency that dabbles in defending Great Britain from all sorts of supernatural menaces and Seras Victoria, a former police officer-turned-Vampire and Vampire hunter.

it also prominently features Vatican Section 13, the Iscariot organization, a rival agency to Hellsing, along with the last battalion of the third reich, also known in story as Millennium, so named because they seek to start a war lasting that long.

Spanning 10 Books and OVAs, along with 13 episodes of tv series, Hellsing is for those people who've grown bored with twilight, and would like to see a Real Vampire in action.

hi.
this is where i plan to review... pretty much Everything, though mainly Comics, Anime, Manga and Videogames.
if this thing goes more 3-4 days without a new post, it's probably dead.
